My Book Review

Title: Amulet The Last Council ( book 4 )
Author: Kazu Kibuishi

Illustrator: Kazu Kibuishi
Storyline:

In this book there are stone keepers, stone keepers are the
most powerful people in the world.
There are many people around the world that have a stone.
They use it for danger and they use it to help people.
No one knew that max was working for the Elf king. Emily was
sleeping, someone came and took her to the guardian council, That is
where she found Max. When she went in there, there were people they
told her about it they said its is a game, you have to survive, and you
also have to becareful of monsters. If you get caught by
one you are long gone. Max fond the mother stone he grabbed it and
emily said leave it, but he didn’t. He was working for the guardian
council. So they went in a pardoll so max can go back to the elf king
. But these people tried to stop him with their amulets but he
got away in a chopper.

What I don’t like:
When max was nice at the
beginning to emily but he
tricked
emily and now he
works for the
Elf king.
Favorite character and why?
My favorite character
is emily because she
is a brave girl
And she has friends that help her
defeat the elf king
by using their amulets.
Would I recommend this book?
Yes I would recommend
This book so other people
can be
interested into
other books
instead of one book.

Olympic Art Work.
Screenshot 2016-09-22 at 9.52.27 AM.png
These are all the words that we had to put on our art work, we had to put the words outside the border and we had to make it fit.
Friendship
Respect
Gold
Silver
Bronze

My class and I created our own Olympic art.  We used Google to search up an olympic athlete.  Then we had to screenshot it so my teacher can print it off for us.  We also used metaphors and similes. The two bubbles down bottom are the speech bubbles and in these are my similes, and the one up top are the thought bubbles. In the thought bubbles are my metaphors.  Before we put our faces on our athlete’s body, we had to do a tessellation for our background.  We used a 3.8 triangle that created hexagons.  The tessellation I created, my shapes were not allowed to overlap and it can’t have any gaps.  It took us about 3 days to finish our art work..

Finally, our awesome artwork is hanging above us in Room 10!

6 x long sticks
1 x  wooden square
2 x pipe cleaners
2 x straws
1 x 1m ruler
11 x plastic cubes
1 x bunch of popsicle sticks
4 x wooden small flat pieces

Stem Challenge #1
Screenshot 2016-09-07 at 8.54.31 AM.png
In the experiment we had to build a structure that was tall and we had to put the equiptment together to make it balance by itself. The thing I think I did well was sharing my knowledge on how to build the structure , it was so hard the block underneath was making it fall. So my teammates worked as a team and we got it to balance correctly, we got it finish in time. We tried our best to balance it but it kept on falling off...but we got there because we had one person to hold the base and two people to put the equipment on the structure and it didnt fall..it worked!! We were all happy.

Stem Challenge #2

Screenshot 2016-09-07 at 10.11.21 AM.png
This is round 2 it was really hard because we had to make a building with sides
sticking out. We tried our best and I think my teammates done well what we have here.
Its looks meese but we done a good job on it, and we worked really hard on it. So we had to biuld a structure so the sides could stick out. This was really hard. We had a smart girl Memphis and she had ideas and we followed her lead.

Stem Challenge #3
Screenshot 2016-09-07 at 10.24.04 AM.png

This was our last challenge, we had to build the tallest structure by using the eqiupment. We all had some good thoughts and when we build the structure we new what it will look like and it did, we had to put the Long wooden sticks on the blocks so it can stand tall and balance, but it kept on falling down, we tried our best and we made it tall, and my teacher was proud of us.

Kia orana Ms Rolton,

I want to comment on your beautiful post, poems are so lovely your one is really amazing.  I think your one is really amazing, the sentence that says “ Fielders sprinting for the catch “ I had that, when I went to catch the ball I tripped and I fell. My cousin laughed  and I said “ I will tell “ he said fine I won’t laugh. That was a lovely poem, I am interested in your poems.

Kind regards

Matariki reflection

Matariki is a time reflection. Yesterday with whaea Toni we took the time to reflect on our year and set a new goal. Here is the goal I set:

Screenshot 2016-07-01 at 11.37.09 AM.png

Screenshot 2016-07-01 at 11.53.36 AM.png
We made a Matariki star. We used our algebraic thinking.

We had a pattern to follow :
                                           1,2 and down

                                              1 and up.

we repeated this pattern until we got the star.

Manu Tukutuku

Manu Tukutuku
This is our Manu Tukutuku, I had help from my friends to do this, I didn’t know what  to do so a girl called Manusina came along and help us, she asked us first if it was ok if she could help us, we said yes so we worked as a team. One  thing I was good at was learning from manusina how to do criss crossing  with the wool and I got the hang of it, it was really cool so I said thank you.

We done this for the Matariki celebration because it is a celebration. What Matariki means is the 7 sisters, they are all in a story the same story, these men found  these beautiful ladies and they were the 7 sisters and they saw them and went out with them, this one man did not like  the 7 sisters he thought they were evil, but the men did not care and they didn’t believe in him, so they went out with the 7  sisters. One day the 7 sisters had a plan  to kill  the men,and they  were  really skinny and you could  see their bones. The seven sisters turned into birds. They  got caught and got took away by the chief, he turned into a bird and he took the seven sisters  in outer space and became Matariki.

This is what you need to make your manu tukutuku, you will need toetoe, it is a type of plant,( stiff plant) you will need wool, any colour, only 2 colours, then you need to measure the length, the length is 100 cm so that is the ruler you need. You will also need flax to put on the kite because the wool you are gonna put on the three sticks is gonna make it tight, the wool will hold on to the kite so the flax never falls down, when you are making the kite you will need to make the wool really tight so the three stick’s hold on, tie them into a big note so it’s tight. My friend patrick had to draw a picture of his whānau/family, then he had to use a glue gun to stick it on and he had to use it the same as the wool, then the glue had to dry.

Jaxs Fish ‘n’ chips

Purpose: Thank you note

Dear Jax

Thank you for coming to rangikura school to share your opera show.

My favorite part was when the Salesman handed out the cards to the audience.

So the salsm  sang  a song so Nemo could get advice for it and he did, so he ask the sale men for a position it was called the elixir of love.  I really liked the handshake because it was cool, and I want to learn how to do it so i can do it to my friends.

I would really love you to come back so you can teach me how to do your handshake because i loved it.

Your Sincerely

Whanaungatanga - All About Me

This is my art, If you can see their is my work that I have done in the past 9 weeks and here's my work. This is my whanaungatanga, Manaakitanga, Identity, korus, Mihi and my photo . What whanaungatanga means is a sense of belonging to a group,  including your friends too. Manaakitanga means caring, partnership, and it also means what it means to you.

The yellow peace  art is my face, I had to cut the other peace of my face out and glue it in my Topic book cause its my drifart. When I have done that, I had to draw another face of me,on  my left  side of the paper and colour it in.

Down bottom where it says Nav is my korus, It presents my   family, so my Mum, Dad, sister, brother and me. If you can see on the right is  my mum, and on the left is my dad,  now in the middle is my brother, sister and me.

Ride at the top is my identity. It shows my culture and the Cook island flag. Its who you are. Sence I have done all those I glue them on a big peace of black paper.

please leave a comment and thanks for reading this.

How To Weave A Box

Easy Blog Photo

Look what team Respect  has done, we have weaved a box using our clear Instructions from our reading literacy book. First i am going to tell you the equipment you need so here it is,

paper
sisors
ruler
cellortape
pen/pencil
Now moving on to the steps.

1. Garther all your equipment so you are ready to start.

2. Measure 10 strips of paper, 1 cm wide and 30 cm long.

3. Then you cut out the 10 strips of your paper.

4. After that you put your 5 paper on the ground neatly and get your other 5 and go up and down and keep
on doing it when you have got to the end.

5. once you have done step 4 you push them together so it looks like a box in the middle.

6.  When you have done step 5 you place the cellotape in the middle so it dose not mark it up, and you don't
have to do it again

7. Then you fold the 4 sides and put something on so it stays flat.

8. Then you take your thing off and measure the out side so you can put like step 4 but your 4 sides are up.

9. you have to cut out another 5 strips for your 4 sides. For this one you would need a buddy to help you to
do the cellortape.

10. About the cellortape you need to cellortape the paper so it stays in place
.
11. then repeat 12, 13 for the rimmaing strips.

12. When you have cellortaped the crones  it would look like this [ the picture down bottom.]

Harakeke

Here is some information about harakeke, which is also known as flax.  Flax can be found in gardens.  If you  want to use flax you will need to say a karakia/prayer first.  You can’t cut it when it’s raining and you can’t cut the flower when it’s flowering.  If you want to cut the harakeke you need to cut the outside, because  in the middle is the rito (baby), Mother and Dad (so the two  names are the same, awhi rito) then all of the  grandparents, so you need to be responsible and not cut the middle.  They are all protecting and giving us themselves because they're being nice and letting us have them,so that means the outside is doing the same as the  inside. So you only cut those ones that are outside,  because  it means  alot to the baby.
